Thirty world leaders who are part of the alliance known as NATO arrived in Brussels, Belgium, where the 2021 NATO summit began today.
This includes Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who attended as part of NATO, despite ongoing tensions between him and many NATO member countries.
President Joe Biden met today with NATO leaders, where he said among other remarks, “I want Europe to know that America is here.”
Biden arrived with a firm stance against China, raising questions about whether he will be able to persuade the other nations to adopt the strong positions he is advocating.
